Colours, fragrances, emotions and unforgettable moments: Lake Garda is a place where you can live unique experiences. Throughout the summer there are events of various kinds to discover: music, sports and traditions. Here, we suggest some of the best ones: 1. International Marathon In September, runners from all over the world gather to run by Lake Garda with its impressive mountain backdrop. The same month also sees the traditional Show of the Flags, the annual racing event that takes place in Desenzano del Garda and is one of the most famous sailing regattas in Italy. In the same town, visitors will be able to visit the “Fairy Tale Night” in Riva del Garda where you will be surrounded by fairy tale-themed decorations and performances that will transport you into another world. For music lovers, the summer music festival is held every year at the lake and offers a dynamic program that will satisfy all musical tastes, from classical symphonies to jazz and rock concerts. The wine lovers should not miss the opportunity to go to Bardolino for the Grape and Wine Festival which is a five day celebration of the local wine that includes tastings, food stalls, marching bands and concerts. Film Festival The Lake Garda area has always been a popular destination for active holidaymakers and sports enthusiasts who enjoy the unique natural scenery and spectacular mountain landscape. In summer, there are also special events that appeal to families with children. For example, the ‘Salo in Musica’ is an event that offers a varied programme of concerts throughout the summer to give added musical charm to the northern towns of Riva del Garda, Arco and Torbole. Or you could take part in a wine and pasta tasting tour where expert chefs will teach you how to make delicious Italian dishes while savouring local wines, including the crisp white Lugana DOC and aromatic red Bardolino DOC. In September, visitors to the Lake Garda area can join in on the Sardellata al Pal del Vo, an age-old tradition where local fishermen gather at San Vigilio and Manerba for a magical evening of traditional fishing with fireworks.
